Mātauranga Māori advisor for Pūtaiao curriculum
At the core of Te Kura Tuarua o Taraika ki Pukeahu (WHS) are Whānau, Excellence, Respect and Ora. Applicants will be committed to continuing the prioritisation of Mātauranga Māori and joining our kura on its journey to being bicultural. We are a coeducational non-uniform school located on Pukeahu. We have a growing relationship with Te Atiawa which supports our kura’s access to the wider community of Te Whanganui-a-Tara, and its potential local curriculum.
Wellington High School is a diverse educational institution committed to mana ōrite mō te Mātauranga Māori- equal status for Mātauranga Māori across all of our our school kaupapa. We are actively seeking a Mātauranga Māori Consultant for our Science Faculty in the 2025 school year.
The Pūtaiao Advisor will play a crucial role in enhancing the understanding and integration of Mātauranga Māori in the school’s science curriculum. This will include support with specific unit changes, pathways for incorporating Mātauranga Māori into foundational planning through all curriculum year levels, connecting kaiako to resources and kaupapa, and offering authentic feedback into areas of the teaching space.
This position aims to ensure there is equal status, support and resourcing for Mātauranga Māori within the science curriculum, so that all students have the opportunity to authentically engage with a broad range of scientific understandings and ideas.
This position is a consultancy role for approximately 20 hours over the 2025 school year. This position may attract independent contractors and consultants but can also be arranged as direct employment with the school. Remuneration to be negotiated.
