Library Assistant (afternoons)
At the core of Wellington High School - Te Kura Tuarua o Taraika ki Pukeahu are Whānau, Excellence, Respect and Ora. We are a coeducational non-uniform school located on Pukeahu. We have a growing relationship with Te Atiawa which supports our kura’s access to the wider community of Te Whanganui-a-Tara. We work collaboratively and inclusively to inspire our community of active, connected and free-thinking learners.
To start in January 2026 we are looking for a Library Assistant to join our Library team. The successful candidate will be a welcoming, creative, and inclusive reader. A passion for young adult literature and the ability to work well with teenagers and teachers are essential. Library experience and qualifications are an advantage.
Wellington High School is a large school with a diverse student population. The Library is an important, dynamic and well used hub for students in class time, during breaks and after school.
The successful applicant will be someone who thrives in a busy work environment, works well as part of a team and can manage their workload independently. They will enjoy a front line service role and have the confidence to take on sole management of the Library for an hour after school each day.
This is a permanent, part time position for 17.5 hours per week (term-time only 1pm - 4.30pm daily Monday-Friday). It is governed by the terms of the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement.
